In 2016 I created a 6 part mini-series telling stories that were stitched together by personal video footage from over the years.
While living in Vancouver, BC, I had the biggest surge of creative energy. 2016 is when I felt it the strongest. Robyn and I were riding the wave of excitement of getting married in the fall, and I did a lot of self reflecting that year. I wanted to be able to capture the emotions and lessons I learned from those memories. …kind of like the sitcom Friends when they do clip shows highlighting memorable scenes.
“She’s my best-friend, long time girlfriend turned fiancé, soon to be wife & future baby mama”
Some of ya’ll look like you’ve never hired a violinist off Kijiji to play Beyoncé while you propose to your partner, and it shows.
I reflect back on the highs and lows of my physical health. Who else do you know that’s had shingles at the age of EIGHTEEN? Sciatica, spinal issues, walked with a cane for a handful of months and has gout before the age of 30? I’m the filipino Benjamin Button!
From starting at NAIT (The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) where I graduated from Radio & Television Broadcasting, to my 4 month internship at HOT 107. I reflect back on my radio journey that brought me to Vancouver.
Pagbalos comes from the Visiyan language (my parents’ dialect from The Philippines), meaning “to be grateful”.
…oddly enough, pagbalos is a homonym. Aside from meaning “to be grateful" it also means “revenge”. Spooky!
Back in 2006, Robyn and I were maybe 1 year into our relationship. For whatever reason, I thought surprising her with sky diving for her birthday would really impress her …clearly my frontal lobe obviously wasn’t fully developed yet.
